Every year around this time, we as Instructors of Gracie Barra Kirkland promote our students, both kids and adults. Some have waited months, and some have waited years to either put another stripe on their belt, or tie an entirely new belt around their waist. Students who train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have arguably the most arduous and unknowing path towards a promotion in comparison to students who train in the other various disciplines of Martial Arts. Jiu-Jitsu students aren’t asked to test in front of their instructors to showcase the depth of what they have learned, they earn their promotion by showing up to train, leading by example, being a helpful teammate during class, and displaying the fortitude to hurdle the numerous mental and physical obstacles. Each student has their own unique journey while training Jiu-Jitsu, and this path of dedication is difficult, they put a lot of time and effort to better their Jiu-Jitsu and, most importantly, themselves. Congratulations to all our teammates who received promotions, all the sweat, aches and pains, and, at times, tears, bears this awesome achievement of their hard work and personal growth.
