Prof. Joshua Bacallao is a third-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu whose lifelong dedication to martial arts began at age 6 with Cuong Nhu. He later competed in high school wrestling before transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 17 under Bill Bartlett at Ocala BJJ in Florida.
Prof. Bacallao also trained in MMA and kickboxing at Champions MMA in Lakeland, Florida, under Ross Kellin. He compiled a 6-3 professional MMA record before shifting his focus to submission grappling. He earned both his brown and black belts under Prof. William Murphy and also holds a green belt in Judo. A Florida native, Prof. Bacallao remains an active competitor in No-Gi and submission-only events and is widely regarded as one of the nation's top No-Gi grapplers.
His accomplishments include IBJJF No-Gi titles in Los Angeles, Austin, Portland, Phoenix and American Nationals in Las Vegas. He has also medaled at the IBJJF Pan Am NoGi championships in the adult black belt division and at the World Championships as a purple belt.
Throughout his career, Prof. Bacallao has recorded notable victories over elite competitors including PJ Barch, Josh Hinger, Carlos Henrique, Samir Chantre, Johnny Tama and Gianni Grippo.
Outside of competition, he remains committed to expanding his martial arts knowledge and is currently studying Tai Chi. He also holds an associates degree in Criminal Justice.

Prof. Solange Reyner
Prof. Solange Reyner is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, active competitor, and instructor dedicated to empowering women through martial arts and self-defense. She is an IBJJF No-Gi World Championship silver medalist at purple belt and an IBJJF World Championship bronze medalist at blue belt. Solange teaches classes at Gracie Barra Kirkland and is the founder of Take the Back Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable BJJ training for women and young girls.
A lifelong athlete, Solange began competing in sports at age 5. She played collegiate water polo, soccer and swam for Queens College, City University of New York, and later boxed as an amateur. She holds a master's degree in communication from the University of Miami.
