More Than a Class: The Story Behind Our Women's-Only Jiu Jitsu Program

If you've stopped by the gym on a Wednesday afternoon or Friday evening, you may have noticed something a little different in the room — a class made up entirely of women and girls, some brand new to Jiu Jitsu, some years into their training, all working together without a single guy on the mats.
That class isn't just a scheduling choice. It's the heart of a mission we've been building since 2023.
Where It Started

Our women's-only program grew out of Take The Back, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Professor Solange Reyner with one clear goal: make self-defense and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible to any woman, teen, or young girl who wants to learn it — regardless of what's in their bank account.
Jiu Jitsu has a way of changing how people carry themselves. It builds confidence, sharpens awareness, and gives you tools you hope you never need but are grateful to have. We didn't want cost to be the reason someone missed out on that. So Take The Back was built to close that gap, one class at a time.
What the Jiu Jitsu Program Looks Like
Classes are open to women, teens, and young girls of any experience level, gi or no-gi, and run right here at the gym:
Sunday — 9–10 a.m.
Wednesday — 3:30–4:30 p.m. (NoGi)
Friday — 5:30–6:30 p.m. (Gi)
At $10 a class — or $100 a month for unlimited sessions — the goal is simple: keep the price low enough that it's never the obstacle standing between someone and the mats.
Why It Matters

Every woman who walks in for the first time brings her own reason — some want to feel safer walking to their car at night, some are chasing a new challenge, some just want a community of people who show up for each other.
Whatever brought them in, what keeps them coming back is usually the same: the mats become a place where they feel stronger, more capable, and genuinely supported.
That's the whole point. Jiu Jitsu doesn't just teach you how to defend yourself — it teaches you that you can.
